War In Waihi - Tic Tac Toe Chart

Our group 'Chapter 7' has read a text called "War In Waihi" which was written by Mark Derby. 

For this task we had to use the text to analyse each part of the text in our own words.

I am learning to develop my vocabulary knowledge of words that have the same prefix. For this task I have chosen a prefix of my own choice, found words that begin my prefix and also made sentences using the new prefix word I have discovered.

My Reading Group Goals for Term2

After sitting our e-asTTle test this week we analysed our group pathways which helped us identify our group reading goals for this term. Here are my group reading goals.

WALT use skimming and scanning skills to locate specific information (find,select,retrieve)

WALT use our knowledge of strategies to solve /read unknown words so that we gain meaning from the text 

WALT make inferences to help us identify the main ideas and to evaluate the authors purpose for writing the text

When the sun shines

When the sun shines,

it burns, it  boils, it bakes, it blaze
and it roasts my shoes until it cooks.

When the sun shines,
it evaporates my brown hands,
it makes my skin go darker,
and it warms up my room.

When the sun moves,
it wipes the sweat off my hair,
it calms down,
and the moon rises.

When I make the sun shine,
I can fry my rice,
dry my clothes,
and melt my slushie.
